For a Saturday wedding, there's generally no rule of thumb, as you can justify almost any time frame for an excuse to get together with friends and family and celebrate the big day! A ceremony in the morning, with an afternoon reception opens the door to a brunch or lunch event, which could be very fun and cost efficient. The vast majority of Saturday events will take place in the evening, with common ceremony times ranging from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
At our Westport venue and at many ceremony and reception locations in Kansas City, the wedding ceremony itself will take place in all of twenty minutes. We schedule a half an hour as a general rule of thumb, and brides are free to decide how long their own wedding ceremony will actually be. The wedding reception begins with an open bar and appetizers immediately following the vows and ring ceremony at Californos.

Even though it feels like a Saturday to you and to many guests who have traveled into town for your special event, some local guests will work their normal schedule on the day of your event and may not be free until 6:00 pm or later. 7:00 pm or 6:30 at the earliest on a Friday is generally a good idea for allowing ample time for guests to arrive in a timely manner as they do intend!
